Save Some Pooches in Greensboro—Hurry!
This is a shout-out to the people of Greensboro, NC. If you’re thinking about adopting a pet, now would be a great time to do so—and the Guilford County Animal Shelter is the place to go. Here’s why:
The Greensboro shelter may have to euthanize healthy, adoptable dogs because it must care for 15 pit bulls seized from the property of a man charged with dog fighting and animal cruelty.
"They're taking up 15 cages—that's 15 adoptable animals we can't hold," said Marsha Williams, Guilford County Animal Shelter's executive director. "We have doubled up on some animals."
Since the pit bulls were seized Friday, August 17th, the shelter has euthanized two other dogs with medical conditions because they didn't have cages for them, Williams said. Healthy, adoptable animals also may have to be euthanized, she said, though how many was impossible to predict.
"I couldn't even begin to imagine," she said Thursday. "Every day we have to make that decision based on how many animals come in.”

many people are outrage by mistreatment of animals but not moved by children living in poverty. Hurican Katrina raised millions of dollars for for the aspca but where'd those millions go? i was in new orleans for the clean up and animals were not being rescued they were running rampant and being shot by the police and sheriff in order to keep us(soldiers) safe. sad that this had to happen but it sadly was neccesary. i say this because no one who donated cared to even check and see where these funds were going and if they were being put to use, yet they won't hand a dollar to a homeless man because he "MAY" buy crack. when did animals rights and safty become more important to this country than human rights. i love animals but i love humans more. i love children more. one nfl player is hated by an entire country for facts that have yet to be proven about treatment of animals when years ago another killed a woman drinking and driving and he was not hated half as much. people get tickets and fines for not having food for dogs at all time.......but we dont even have food infront of our children at all times. this is exceptable. this would lead you to believe that our dogs should be treated better than our children or our children should be taken from us for not treating them better than dogs? this makes no sense. if you hit an animal with your hand its concidered cruel if you spank your child its discipline? with millions startving and in poverty, look how much more money we as a nation donate to animals vs towards human beings. this is sad
also the hipocracy in this country is beyond crazy. there are states making it illegal to house dogs outside between certain times of the day and certain tempiture. why is it the cattle and horses and livestock can be outside and dogs who come from wolves cannot? we are begining to give these animals human rights not animals rights. the HSUS is labeling breeding as "rape" this is pure insanity. hundreds of cows are raped a day then so that we have beef on the market.. it is blowing my mind that an animal can be "RAPED" by another animal.

i dont see why we have to kill animals because "there's no room"...if that's the case, let's start euthanizing people, cus lord knows where i'm from there is way too many people in this small area! Its insane we kill for such a small reason.
