ASPCA IN THE NEWS: WHY DOES THE MICHAEL VICK CASE HURT HIP-HOP?
MTV News
Genre's glamorization of dogfights and pit bulls has led critics to associate it with blood sport.
The Michael Vick dogfighting case has created many victims. First, you have the alleged victims: the dogs. There are also the Atlanta Falcons, who are out a quarterback. And there's hip-hop. Yes, hip-hop.
Vick's indictment on federal charges related to a dogfighting ring allegedly run on his Virginia property has brought the brutal blood sport into the public consciousness — and hip-hop is one of the only outlets in America where you'll find references to it. Dogfighting's presence in videos and lyrics led to critical newspaper editorials and columns, along with on-air berating from Fox News personality Bill O'Reilly.

If Vick cops a plea deal, he's likely to serve less than a year in prison! We need to mobilize to make sure he doesn't get off with a slap on the hands and little to no time in jail. He did the crime, now let him do the time. If the federal courts let him off with a slap on the hands, it would be a slap in the face of every dog owner in this country that values stiff penalties against animal abusers who commit these heinous crimes!
I never thought of it like that. wow. michael vick has got to go.
I would like to know if the ASPCA will be represented in Richmond, VA on Nov. 26th @ 9:30 am?
Please tell me that there is going to be further action by the ASPCA against Vick. One year is not enough for what he did to animals and for how he set back animal rights. Please let me know what next step is going to be taken for his plea agreement. I will get all of my friends in on it. Thanks.
HE GIVES ANYTHING A BAD NAME
I think vick should get life in prison. He took lifes from thoese little ones .And now they are dead .They never had a chance. To get good moms and dads who would have show them lots of love .Thats a sham. But bless each and ever one of them. Now they are not being put through hell any more. god bless them all THANK YOU
ASPCA, what's your position on this? How come you aren't doing anything against this horrible crime? Sure, you "applaud" the investigation, but what is your statement against this cruelty? I have never seen anything on this website saying that this is unhumane and horrible. This abscence of opinion probably shows the weakness of ASPCA as a civil society. Where is your voice? I can only see on your main page links to shops! I am so disappointed in this society. I thought that you would at least take action against these acts of terrible cruelty. You didn't condemn this act of cruelty against animals.
What will most likely happen as a result of his plea bargain...which will be a joke; is that he will "claim" to have had an epiphony, see the error of his ways and then become the new poster child for anti-animal cruelty laws. This may convince some people but by and large I don't think many will be swayed by his change of heart. His motivation will be largely driven by money, money and more money. If we are all god's creatures and we should do unto other as we would wish them to do unto us; Well Michael Vick shouldn't expect an easy road to hoe.
Seen this? Rapper DMX with unfed pit bulls, buried dogs--one buried dog was burned.

What he did was inhuman. He is a murderer and should pay the price for commiting the crime.
hey! my friend and i are trying to pick out a charity to help out, we dont know how to find where to sendd the money,
Why would he thorow his seven million dollar salary out the window? How could he be so cruel? I am only eleven years old, but I still think that was wrong.
i cant beleive this guy just abused animals like that. its completely illogical just 2 thro away a good salary & especially to abuse animals. any1 who has an wonders how in the world can some1 hurt such a cute and innocent little creature. i think this guy should be in jail 4 a 20 yrs sentance. this guy is ludacrus. i love my kitty, but still, abusing dogs is just as bad. this guy's an idiot.
"Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Therefore, judge not, that ye be not judged. For the same judgement you pass on your fellow man, you shall be judged accordingly. I am sure that there are things in your life that you are not proud of...things that are a crime and punishable by law...things that you deserve to suffer for...secret things...destestable and pervesrse things...things that would tear your world apart if anyone found out. Remember this, just because your filth was not presented to the grand jury and made public on the national stage doesn't make you any less guilty. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We are all subject to fall, lest you forget. Wishing bad things to befall someone only causes the universe to pour misfortune into your own life. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue". Speak life!
