Exposures To Popular Home Air Freshener Products May Cause Serious HarmUrbana, Ill., December 12, 2006—All of us love our homes smelling fresh and fragrant, and go to great lengths to ensure that they do so. But before setting out that lovely potpourri simmer pot, pet owners should take heed: many liquid potpourri formulations contain ingredients such as essential oils and detergents that could be quite hazardous to our furry companions, as an analysis of calls to the ASPCA’s Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) has shown.
“The major share of our cases has involved cats,” says Dr. Steven Hansen, veterinary toxicologist and senior vice president of the APCC, “most likely because cats have greater access to the simmer pots which are usually kept on countertops or other high-level surfaces.” Of the more than 330 liquid potpourri cases the APCC has managed since 2001, 87 percent involved felines, while the remaining 13 percent involved dogs.

hello i enjoy every thing you alll do this is my second time writing so well here i go i love animals and i try to help every one i see just a few days ago i was walking home from the bus and i see these 2 dogs running toward me i was like okayy and then all of a suden i was on the ground the dogs started to attack me and i was sooo scared i did not no what to do so i wa strying to get a way from the dogs and they would not leave me alone so i ran to me friends house and they helped me an dany way i was thinking about the aspca cause welll i guess there owners didnt care more for them just to let them rome freely so i w as going to call you guys but i didnt cause that day the owners found them well any ways bye I LOVE YOU GUYS <3
