So you want to adopt a dog, do ya? Find a dog with the right energy. That's why they have the Meet Your match right here at the ASPCA shelter.A dog is not a toy or a clothing accesory. It's a living creature. The decision to adopt a dog should be treared with very careful attention as if you were deciding where to live, etc. Too often, a dog is adopted because it is "cute" or "fashionable" rather than based on the merits of it's behavior and energy levels.In these situations, the dog may be returned to the rescue shelter,kennel and each return is a black mark on that dog's record.It suggests that the dog is unadoptable, and the more the dog is returned, the more likely it is to be eventually euthanized.When selecting a dog, it is importanmt to take in account how that dog's energy will harmonize your own.when energy levels conflict, resulting frustations on part of the person and dog can create tensions and issues with repercusions.Use Meet Your Match!! When you have identified your energy levels, begin research on dogs and their energy levels.A dogs breed doesn't necessarily dictate it's personality. Some breeds are known for having a certain energy or disposition. If you decide to adopt from a shelter or rescues, keep in mind that dog in a cage ata shelter will be difficult to appraise in terms of its level of energy. It may help to have a professional or someone with expertise to assist you in gauging the dog's energy levels. Ask the staff about the dog.Find out what the dogis really like and how he gets along with the staff or caregivers and the other dogs. How does he act at mealtimes? What is he like when people come by to view the other dogs.The answers to questions like thes will give you a better idea of what he will be like with you and your family at home. Find out from the shelter if you can take the dog for a walk around the block and see how the two of you will get along.Not only will you get an early idea of how you work together, but a better understanding of his temperament, once you've drained away the frustation and pent up energy he has from being in a cage. Verrry important, do your best to leave emotions at the door. Try not let the enviorment of the shelter and the weight of descision influence you. It's crucial to choose the right dog, and not just the one you feel sorry for. Feeling sorry for a homeless dog won't benefit you or the dog in the long run. Remember to keep an open mind, do your research,and have PATIENCE! IN the end you'll both be better off. Good luck and be sure to use MEET Your Match. Have a safe day. :))

The ASPCA are very careful where we are placed.I wouldn't want to go to a place where I would be sneaked in and hidden. That's bad.That's why anyone adopting a pet, choose very wisely.

Thanks Erica for the kind words.It's very important that people choose very wisely when adopting a pet. Some people likes small dogs, some like medium dogs and some like large dogs.Some live in appartments, some in houses. leo is such a beutifull dog i dont know why hes not adopted maybe people just like the small dags and not the big dogs they are pretty fun 2 i want two great danes wene i grow up and i want to be a veternarian wene i grow up i just love animals they are just so friendly to people but some pets are unlucky because they have owners that neglect them and abuse and slatter is not right they should be free and live with people that will show them respect and mostly love cuz that is the most important thing to animals and to us so we should treat animals the way us humans are treated i mean there just like humans but with four legs and fur and a tail so i beileve that we should stop animal slatter and just love them thank you so much and hope to see leo in the future goodbye see ya soon leo cant wait to see you for the first time in life cant wait lotes of love see ya
