Every year, thousands of animals experience kindness, comfort and second chances under our roof at the ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City. The Adoption Center, located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, is a spacious, state-of-the-art shelter with highly qualified veterinarians and behavior counselors on staff. On any given day, the Adoption Center houses hundreds of cats and dogs waiting to find loving homes.
Working closely with the ASPCA Animal Hospital, our Adoptions team ensures that our adoptable animals receive the best possible medical care. All adoptable pets receive vaccinations, microchips and undergo spay/neuter procedures prior to going home with adopters.
The animals in our care range widely in size, age and personality type, and our highly trained behaviorists help adopters to find a pet who fits with his or her personality and lifestyle. Those who visit the Adoption Center are asked to fill out adoption surveys, which help our behavior counselors make the best possible matches between adoptable pets and adopters. In 2014 alone, the Adoption Center staff welcomed 17,261 human visitors and adopted out a record 3,800 cats and dogs.
