Tampa made great strides for animals during its time as an ASPCA partner community. In 2006, 14.3% of the animals who entered Tampa shelters were adopted, placed with a rescue or returned to their families. By 2010, that percentage had risen more than 20 points, to 38%—and Tampa expects to continue the trend.

Tampa Success Stories
Trooper was found after being hit by a car. He was brought to Hillsborough County Animal Services, where his badly injured leg was removed. He was then transferred to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) for rehab and adoption. Trooper was a staff favorite, and he appeared with HSTB Executive Director Sherry Silk on stage at the Tuxes & Tails fundraiser! Trooper now lives with a devoted family. His best buddy in the world is the family’s youngest child.
Roxy and her six pups were rescued by a Hillsborough County Animal Services field officer after they were abandoned at an apartment complex. Roxy was fortunate to enter the Tampa partners’ foster system. After several months of wholesome food, medications and lots of socialization, all family members were adopted!
