Twinkle Toes (aka Twinkie)
Breed: Pit bull mix
Gender: Female
Age: 2 years old
Training Skills: Twinkie knows Sit and is learning Paw. She does well in a crate when left alone, but she really wants to be around people as much as possible. She is learning not to bark and responds well to an occasional squirt from a water bottle! She’s also working on not jumping—she just can't help it when she wants to say hello!
Ideal Home: Twinkie absolutely loves people and is extremely friendly and submissive. She has a moderate energy level and needs a family who can give her plenty of exercise and structure. She loves being around children, although her energy level tells us she’d do best with children over 12. She is fine around other dogs, but we would prefer she goes to a home with only male dogs. She will probably chase cats, but not hurt them.
Favorite Pastimes: Getting belly rubs, stretching out on the floor, lounging in the sun and entertaining passers-by with her very thoughtful facial expressions.
Special Characteristics: Her incredibly expressive eyes, her excellent posture and the way her whole body wiggles when people approach her to give her love!
What Staffers Say: “Twinkie was found as a stray on Valentine’s Day and taken to the animal control shelter, where she was slated for euthanasia. The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) rescued her and the staffers here have all fallen in love with this sweet, happy girl. She has been with us for nearly two months, and she has learned so much and responded incredibly well to training. She has an enormous amount of love to give. We can’t wait for her to find a family of her own.”
