Town Lake Animal Center
Town Lake Animal Center relies on volunteers to save treatable animals, assist customers and keep animals at the shelter happy and healthy. A wide variety of volunteer jobs are available, and there are opportunities to help out before, during and after regular business hours. If you're interested in providing a temporary foster home to pets in need-underage kittens or puppies, nursing moms and their babies, animals recovering from surgery or pets who need special behavioral evaluation-visit http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/health/pets/rescue_pet.htm.
Austin Humane Society
Join more than 700 other animal lovers and volunteer your time for cats and dogs at the Austin Humane Society (AHS). Volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and attend an orientation class. For more information on becoming a volunteer, visit http://www.austinhumanesociety.org/volunteer. AHS accepts volunteers for the following programs:

Adoption Support to assist adoption staff with customer service, adoption counseling and education.

Cat Adoption Team to socialize adoptable cats and kittens.

Behavior Re-Homing Assessment Training Team to socialize, train and care for canines.

Event Support to assist with fundraising events, off-site adoption events and special projects.

Foster Care to support animals who are too young for adoption or those with special needs.
Animal Trustees of Austin
Volunteer at Animal Trustees of Austin's (ATA) wellness or spay/neuter clinics! ATA offers 30-minute tours of its facilities to help volunteers become familiar with procedures. Current needs include:
- Checking patients in and out of the Spay/Neuter Clinic, sterilizing instruments and making surgical packs, monitoring patients post-op, answering phones and setting appointments
- Greeting clients at the Wellness Clinic, checking patients in and out, cashier, data entry, answering phones, restocking examination rooms and general office support.
