ASPCA Announces Free Health Drive for NYC Pets at Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital

WHO/WHAT: Pet owners are invited to bring their older cats and dogs (cats over seven years, dogs over five) to the ASPCA's Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital for a free blood pressure screening. The screenings are being offered free of charge on Saturday, April 9 to commemorate the ASPCA's 145th anniversary of serving NYC's companion animals.

WHY: "Blood pressure screening is most important for middle-age and senior animals, as many health conditions (including heart disease, kidney disease, or other severe illnesses) cause animals to develop perilously high or low blood pressure," says Dr. Louise Murray, vice president of the ASPCA's Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital.
