The City of Austin made enormous progress for animals during its time as an ASPCA partner community. Since completing the program in 2012, Austin’s animal welfare agencies—Town Lake Animal Center, the Austin Humane Society, Emancipet and Animal Trustees of Austin—have continued to make it a top priority to find homes for thousands of adoptable animals and reduce the city’s needless euthanasia of healthy pets.

Town Lake Animal Center
Town Lake Animal Center takes in more than 23,000 pets each year, many of whom are healthy and simply need a second chance with loving, responsible families.

Austin Humane Society
Formed in 1952, the Austin Humane Society is dedicated to eliminating the unnecessary euthanasia of dogs and cats through innovative adoption programs, high-volume spay/neuter programs, community engagement, and serving animals and people in times of crisis.

Animal Trustees of Austin
Animal Trustees of Austin provides affordable wellness care, spay/neuter surgeries, teeth cleaning and polishing, heart worm treatment, and surgical procedures for more than 36,000 dogs and cats annually. Animal Trustees' staff of experienced veterinarians and technicians are dedicated to caring for the animals of Central Texas.

Emancipet
Emancipet provides free and low-cost spay/neuter services throughout Central Texas via mobile and stationary clinics. Each month, highly skilled veterinary surgeons and veterinary technicians serve between 1,200 and 2,000 pets.
