A Bedford, New Hampshire, woman surrendered to police on Friday, February 4, after an arrest warrant for animal cruelty was issued for her.
Police said that during a January inspection of Kimberly Connell's home, authorities found a dead cat among 19 living animals, according to the Manchester Union-Leader. Steve Sprowl, the New Hampshire SPCA's animal cruelty investigator, told the news source that the nine dogs and 10 cats were found living in poor conditions and many needed medical attention.
"The four [Rottweilers] were living in kennels in the basement and they were loaded with feces, no food or water available, underweight and one of them even had a glass bowl in there that had broken," Sprowl told the news provider.
All of the living animals were seized during the January search of Connell's home and have been living at the NHSPCA. Sprowl said that the animals will eventually be put up for adoption.
The Associated Press reports that Connell will appear in Merrimack District Court on March 7.
