After falling from a seventh-story window, breaking his front legs and fracturing the roof of his mouth, Gilbert the kitten nearly died. But thanks to a Good Samaritan, Gilbert is on the mend, NBC New York reports.
"All in all he's a very lucky kitten," Dr. Stephanie Janeczko of New York City Animal Care and Control told the station. "Extremely lucky!"
Gilbert was found in the Bronx, New York, and taken to an animal hospital by a passerby. Now, he’s on the mend and will soon be available for adoption.
"Despite all of these injuries, he's going to be good as new in a couple of weeks," says Janeczko, adding that falls like Gilbert’s are common this time of year. "Having good, secure screens and guards in place is important," she says.
