"I Fought Cruelty!"

Saved an Abandoned Horse from Death

My husband, Allen and I recently became the proud pet parents of a very large Thoroughbred mare who had been abandoned by her owners. She had been left to die in an empty lot with four dogs—by the time we found her, the dogs had all passed away from starvation.  My husband and I both had limited knowledge of horses, but knew we could not leave her there to suffer and die. She was so emaciated—she weighed only 750 pounds. After some time, love and care, our girl has recovered and now weighs a healthy 1350 pounds. She is happy, with a very loving disposition. She has added so much love to our family and the grandchildren really enjoy her.  I have included a photo of her playing with her favorite friend—who we rescued from the local shelter.
