Saved Draft Horse from Slaughter

Ariel is a Belgium Draft horse, thought to be in her teens. She spent her entire life as a work horse plowing fields, until the day her owner realized she was no longer capable of doing her job. Ariel was immediately scheduled to be sold for slaughter. An avid horse lover, I was contacted by a woman who thought I might be able to help. After much discussion, I got Ariel’s owner to accept my offer to let her come live out her life on my farm. This was no easy task, but well worth the effort. When she first arrived to my home, Ariel was skinny—her body full of fresh scrapes and old scars. With a good trim, lots of rest and more love than she could possibly take in, Ariel settled comfortably into her new home.
