"I Fought Cruelty!"

Elizabeth Ray, U.S.

Saved Starving Beagle

I discovered a pitiful old Beagle living underneath my shed in the backyard. She immediately bolted when she I tried to get close to her—and I suspect she was mistreated her entire life. I began leaving her food and water hoping she would see it—she was nothing but skin and bones. Finally, after a couple of days of feeding her, she let me pet her. I was soon able to treat her for worms, fleas, ticks and mange. After taking care of her all summer, I have finally started calling her my own. She is a joy to have around. I named her Shiloh—and while she may not have much longer to live, at least she can finally be loved.
