My roommate and I always JOKE about how evil our black kitten is, but we love him so much. He's really very sweet. My roommate is afraid of bugs, and one day she woke up from a nap and saw a spider. Our kitten was sleeping next to her and heard her shriek. He woke up, lazily ate the bug to protect her, and went back to sleep. We actually adopted him specifically because he was a black stray, and we were worried no one else would take him (or he would end up in the wrong hands). It was one of the best decisions we've made. He's our favorite companion.

I have a black cat named Geppa, who also has bright orange eyes. I found her at a fast food play structure when she was a little kitten, covered in fleas and starving. She has been with me for the past 6 years and I truly don't know what I would do without her. She's an indoor, spoiled kitty now and sleeps with me at night on my plush pillowtop mattress :)

We adopted our beautiful Shylow/twilight after he sat for five months. No one wanted him. Well let me tell you he is the most lovable, gentle cat. He lays in your arms while you watch TV. He has brought us so much joy! I own two black cats. I never regret falling in love that day with that black cat. People also have a problem adopting black dogs. Our daughters sat 3 years in a no kill shelter.

We have two black cats who we adore - they're playful and affectionate and they love to lay on us and purr loudly. And they're absolutely gorgeous too. We decided we always need to have at least one black kitty - perhaps several!

I have a black cat named Salem that was abused by the guy I got him from. the cat was mean and atacked me every chance he had, but with patients and alot of love, Salem is one of the most affectionate and loving cats I have ever owned. He love to play and actually fetches and retieves paper balls.

Anyone who thinks that black cats are bad omen grew up with superstitious folks. We, Filipinos, believe that. Well, that was before I owned one black cat whom I named Blacqui. His black all over, beautiful with a pair of green eyes; but his three siblings are white, with just a little touch of black and orange. Blacqui is such a sweet boy, but he is scared of other people. When I see him run around the house when he hears other people's voices, I softly tell him to "Hide," and he will hide until he stops hearing strange voices.

I was blessed to have my black cat Lucky for 16 years. He was sooooo special. My boyfriend who does not like cats even had to grudgingly like Lucky. He passed this year and I miss him so much. He had the prettiest bright green eyes. People walking down the sidewalk in front of my house would stop and tell him what a beautiful cat he was. He's up in heaven running around happily now...

I had a blacl cat that i named "Sweetheart" when i was 5 and first got her as a kitten...she was thw most loving and sweet cat I could have asked for. Later we began calling her "Fuzzy" or "Miss Fuzzy" and it stuck. She passed away this past spring and at the age of 22 now, its hard being without her. Dont knock black cats...theyre just as cute, cuddly and kind as the next cat!

I have had two black cats. George just showed up at our door and we took him in. He was the sweetest, gentlest cat ever. After I lost him, I adopted Ralph because George was so wonderful and other people told me that their black cats were really sweet, too. Ralph cuddles up in my arms and licks my face! It breaks my heart to think of such warm, loving animals being left out in the cold just because they are a certain color. They both came into my life when I most needed some cheering up, and that's what they did--quite the opposite of bad luck! Adopt a black cat--they will be the best pet ever :-)

My "soul" cat was a black cat named Poet (1985-2001). She was a petite, elegant little lady who didn't want anyone to touch her but me. I have her ashes and want her to be buried with me. I've loved all my cats, but Poet was special.

I've had lots of cats -- orange, black and white, tabby/Maine Coon mix, Siamese, grey, grey and white -- and I'm here to tell you that my current love muffin (who weighs in at a muscular 17 lbs) is the best of the bunch. He's big and black and the sweetest, gentlest, most dog loving and cat loving guy you could ever meet. He travels well, he kisses on command (he doesn't like to think of it as an "order" of course!) and follows me everywhere and loves his dogs. I will always have a black cat after this wonderful guy.

I grew up with two cats. A black one and a White one. I loved both equally and when I went to the shelter this past August I adopted a beautiful black kitten named Bella. I went to the shelter in search of a furbaby and I am so happy I went when I did. She and my little black dog (Yes I have one of those too! A black yorkie, chi, maltese mix which is definitely a odd combo) get along well and Bella has her moments when she likes to be sneaky and scare him. I always loved having black cats but I would never shy away from any animal because of their color. All animals deserve an equal chance and that's the only way ill see it :)

Such a funny kitty, I can be mad at him one minute and the next I'm laughing and saying how cute he is! But they're both so loveable! I also have a grey tabby named Sassy. They all cuddle with each other and get along great, I've had black cats all my life and I've never experienced any bad luck or had an evil black cat! Go out and adopt a black cat today, they deserve a good home just as much as the rest of the animals!!

I have a black cat named Spook at home. I love him, and I rescued him from a human shelter. And what they are saying about black cats being the least likely to be adopted ... is just wrong. You shouldn't judge a cat by it's color... you should treat a cat like you would a person. With respect, and that is certainly not having cats suffer in shelters because of the color of their fur. You should get a cat because you just look at it and fall in love...not because whether it has a pretty coat or not.

my cat rocks! I've always had dogs all my life, and one morning 2.5 years ago I came across something in the road and it turned out to be a little black kitten that was hit by a car. I picked him up and brought him to a nearby emergency vet, and now 2 and 1/2 years later I have a really super cool, fun, lovable and very funny pet with a great personality.

I've always had a black cat in my home. At my parents house we have Snickers, and at mine and my boyfriend's apartment we have Gidget and Bynx! I love them all, and I don't think it's fare that black cats (or any animal!) get a bad rap because of the color of their fur. If I had room for more critters, I'd go get myself another black cat right now!
