Christopher was featured as Pet of the Week on March 9, 2012!
Christopher is a super-smart, affectionate and gentle guy who has spent an inexplicably long time—16 months, actually—waiting to go home.
Surrendered when the only family he’d ever known added a baby, Christopher had a really hard time adapting to shelter life. Although our volunteers paid him extra attention, even teaching him to catch a ball (seriously), Christopher grew increasingly depressed and agitated outside a home environment and without people to call his own.
In December, Christopher left our Adoption Center to be fostered at the ASPCA’s administrative offices. Since then, we’ve had the absolute joy of watching him perk up and show his true colors, and we can’t sing his praises enough.
“Christopher is a brilliant cat,” says Ned Smith, who is fostering (and pampering) this special kitty in his office. “He observes human activity as if he was studying our behavior.”
It’s true: Christopher spends some of each day perched on Ned’s desk, gazing intensely at passersby and sometimes giving them a friendly meow.
Adds Ned: “Christopher is excellent at getting your attention, yet he does it in a very cool and relaxed manner. He is a very quiet cat, yet his eyes speak volumes.”
Are you interested in our little intern Christopher? Then you have excellent taste in cats! Please contact our Adoption Center at (212) 876-7700, ext. 4900, to arrange an appointment to meet him at our Midtown Manhattan office. He’d be happiest as an only feline in a 12-and-up home and, since Chris has suffered painful urinary blockages in the past, he must eat prescription food to prevent a recurrence.
Christopher is more than worth it.
