Draper

Love on Wheels

Draper taking a napThe ASPCA Mobile Adoption unit brings shelter pets and potential pet parents together by traveling to communities throughout the five boroughs of NYC. Lindsay Schramm stopped by the unit last month and met her dream kitty:

I adopted Jacob from the ASPCA Mobile Adoption unit on 14th Street one month ago today!

Jacob has been renamed Draper because his markings reminded me of Don Draper's suits, and because he is such a lady's man!

I had a dream cat in mind when I moved in to my new apartment: a big, older, black-and-white, male cat who had come from troubled times. When I saw the ASPCA unit, I couldn't resist checking it out even though I had no intentions of adopting that day.

When I told the volunteers about my fantasy cat, they opened the truck, and there he was! Even though I was in the middle of my workday, I adopted Draper ASAP and kept him in our store's bathroom until the end of my shift.

Draper is a very vocal, loving, playful cat. He loves waking me up in the morning when I'm being lazy and sleeping through my alarm. He adores being held or pet by anyone and loves nothing more than his nightly treat of soft food.

Draper is a mama's boy who has a panic attack any time I take a shower. It's as if he's screaming, "WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT?!?" He is a total social character and a complete lovebug, just like his namesake!
