Danny Boy

Cat’s Best Friend

Danny the CatIn this week’s Happy Tail, Manhattan resident Colette Lageoles shares the story of how adopting a five-year-old kitty from the ASPCA helped bring joy to both the human and animal members of her family:

We adopted Daniel from the ASPCA in August 2011, and his name is now Danny. We usually call him Danny Boy. He's such a great cat!

He's also done the best thing ever by bringing our 13-year-old cat, Gus, out of a depression he suffered when our other cat, Jenny, his best friend, died. Now Danny and Gus run after each other; they roll and tumble.

Before Danny came into our home, Gus stayed in the bedroom and slept all day and night, getting up only to eat and use the litter box. Now he seems so much happier, which makes our family happier!

Danny was five years old when we adopted him, which was perfect for Gus. Kittens are adorable, but we thought that an older cat would be a better fit for our 13-year-old cat, and we were right.

In short, he's a keeper. We love him!
